Melissa Carrington received her Master of Music degree in Oboe Performance from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California, where she studied under Joel Timm. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree from the Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach, where she studied under David Weiss. Ms. Carrington currently works as an instructional assistant for the Irvine Unified School District elementary music program, where she assists in teaching instrumental and vocal music, as well as serving as piano accompanist in classes and concerts. Additionally, during her studies at USC, she participated in the Thornton Outreach program, teaching music and leading sectionals in Los Angeles public schools. She also maintains a private instruction studio for oboe and piano.
A native of southern California, Ms. Carrington has performed with many ensembles in the area, including the Dream Orchestra of Los Angeles, Santa Monica Symphony, and the Young Musician’s Foundation Debut Orchestra. She has also performed in orchestral and wind ensemble concerts in venues across the United States, including Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.
